3 Reasons Being A Stay At Home Mom Is Awesome

As a stay at home mom, your job truly is as important as anyone else’s. You might not be lining the pockets of a big, faceless corporation (which is what society tends to deem as ‘successful’) but your time is being invested into looking after your family- and there are few things as rewarding as that. As a stay at home mom you fulfill many roles, from cook to cleaner, teacher, taxi driver, therapist and much more. So don’t ever play down what it is that you do, or claim that you’re ‘just’ a stay at home parent to anyone that asks. Your job is the most important job in the world, because you’re looking after your world. Here are some of the many benefits, just in case you needed to be reminded of how meaningful you are.

The family can function efficiently

As a stay at home mom, your ‘job’ is essentially to help your family run efficiently. No one is taking away from mothers that work while raising a family, just like you, they are superheros. But being a SAHM means you’re around more, making it easier to run your home, call for appointments, be home if your child is sick and plan whatever it is your family need to do for the day/ week/ month. You’re able to cook from scratch, wash and iron school clothes, help with homework, attend school meetings and kids doctors appointments and everything else you need to do without having to fit it around a traditional job.

You can keep a clean home

A clean and tidy home isn’t the be all and end all, and in all honesty your place will never look like a show home when you have kids. However, having some time to clean and organize each day can help everything run much more smoothly. You don’t have to spend money on a cleaner or spend all weekend cleaning and decluttering your house as you can do a little each day. This is great for when guests pop over last minute, but also for generally keeping organized.

You can still earn money

A lot of being a SAHM is spending your time helping your family to achieve their dreams. However, it doesn’t mean you need to give up on yourself. You can earn a respectable living from home, either as a remote worker, a freelancer, blogger or a home business owner. You might only have the opportunity to work part time hours with your other commitments that need to be done, but it’s something you can work on and build up. Teach yourself some computing basics such as keyboard shortcuts like screenshotting and copy and paste to work more quickly. You could even go on an online course before starting your venture to give you some background knowledge.
