4 Tips For Taking Your Own Wedding Photos

A lot of people say that you should never do your own wedding photos and you should always hire a professional. However, if you know what you are doing and you plan properly, there is no reason why you can’t take great wedding photos without paying a lot of money for a photographer.

Doing your own wedding photos is particularly useful at the moment if you are trying to plan a wedding during the pandemic and you want to limit the number of people that attend. If you are organizing your wedding and you want to handle your own photography, here are a few simple tips to help make sure that the photos turn out great.

1. Find Somebody With Experience

Even though you are handling your own photos, you should still find somebody with experience. If you have any friends or family members that like to take photographs as a hobby, that’s perfect. You could even offer to pay them a small fee for the day. You’ll still be saving money and you can make sure that you get somebody that knows what they are doing.

If you don’t already know somebody with a bit of photography experience, choose somebody that you trust and ask them if they are willing to learn the basics. They don’t need to be an expert photographer but they do need a good understanding of the basic concepts.

2. Do Some Trial Runs

Before the big day, you should do some trial runs with your chosen photographer. Think about the kind of photos that you want to take and do a few practice shots. This will give you an idea of how good they are and help you plan the photos that you want to take on the day. It also gives your photographer a chance to practice some of the new techniques that they have learned.

3. Have A Backup In Place

If you hire a professional photographer, they will have a whole range of camera equipment so if something goes wrong, they have a backup. You need to do the same because if you rely on a single camera and it breaks on the day, you won’t have any photos at all. So, make sure that you invest in a professional quality camera but also buy a second one just in case. It’s worth buying a few smartphone lenses as well so if the worst comes to the worst, you can still use a good quality phone camera to get some shots.

4. After The Big Day

After the wedding day, it’s important that you keep all of the photos well organized. These simple photo organizing tips will help you keep all of your pictures in order. Downloading photo organization apps is a great way to make sure that you don’t lose anything.

Once you have all of your photos organized, you can look through and find the best ones that you want printed. Make sure that you find a professional printing service and pay for the highest quality prints.

As long as you follow these simple tips, there is no reason why you can’t take your own amazing wedding photos.
