So lately there has been an epidemic widespread of the flu through out the United States and this prompt me to finally getting around to writing this blog post.
A couple weeks ago I had a major head & sinus cold going on and I was feeling terrible. I didn’t want to be bothered with anyone let alone any noises. While laying in bed I remember being told of this great and easy way of getting rid of it with a home remedy tea that has been around for quite some time now. I knew I had all the ingredients in the kitchen so off I went, miserable and all.
It only takes 3 ingredients to make. So simple and so yummy. You need is Lemon, Honey and Ginger. That’s it!!
Lemon is an antioxidant and has an excellent source of Vitamin C. It also helps boost the immune system.
Honey is a natural antibacterial and a natural preservative, it acts as a cough suppressant and helps boosts the immune system.
Ginger helps soothes the stomach, reduces inflammation, and increases circulation.
Lemon, Honey & Ginger Tea
- 2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice (preferred organic or squeezed from fresh lemon)
- 2 Tablespoons Honey (preferred raw, organic local honey to help with allergies)
- 1-2 Teaspoons Ginger (preferred fresh organic ginger)
Boil water. Peal and slice or minced ginger. Stir in honey and lemon in cup. Then add ginger. Add boiling water. Let steep for about 20 minutes. Enjoy drinking this yummy homemade tea.
Or you can pre-mix it in a jar and have it already made for when you want to make this tea.
- 2 lemons (thoroughly cleaned)
- 2 piece of fresh ginger (about the size of your pointer and middle finger)
- Raw honey
- 12 oz mason jar
Slice lemons and ginger. Place the lemon and ginger slices in the mason jar, alternating layers of each. Slowly, pour honey over the lemon and ginger. Allow the honey to sink down and around the lemon and ginger slices. Fill jar to the top with honey and seal tightly. Store in the refrigerator. Over time, the mixture will start yo turn into a loose jelly. When you are in need of some soothing tea, scoop 2-3 tablespoons into a mug full of hot water. Allow to seep for 3-4 minutes and sip away.
