Morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, and lower back pain – just a few of the fun things that you have to look forward to during your pregnancy. Fun times.
So how do you get to look like those über glowing and stylish moms that the magazines are touting at every give and turn? Well, we might have a few solutions for you, because this time is supposed to be one of the most memorable and sacred moments in any woman’s life.
To help you along, we’ve created a quick cheat sheet for you to ensure that your pregnancy is as blissful and hassle-free as possible.
TAKE A PRENATAL VITAMIN
This is a bit of a no-brainer, but it has to be top of the list anyway. A good diet, a good fitness regime, and overall healthcare can all be supported and enhanced by a well-functioning immune system and a strong immune system is supported by an adequate intake of prenatal vitamins. Folic acids, vitamin D, zinc, and calcium supplements are all great places to start, but always follow the directions of your healthcare team.
EXERCISE REGULARLY
Whether or not you are an existing fitness buff, or you’re just now planning on starting a new regimen, a good fitness and exercise routine is a great base for supporting muscle growth as well as strengthening your core and lower back muscles and giving your immune system a good boost.
WRITE A BIRTH PLAN
Forewarned, is forearmed and a good birthing plan will leave you feeling empowered and in control and will result in reduced levels of stress and anxiety.
EDUCATE YOURSELF
Take the time to read every bit of literature you can about pregnancy and top tips for getting through it all. The internet is a great resource and now that you have all the excuses you need for taking it easy and relaxing, you’ll need some reading material.
This is useful for several reasons, but if you have any underlying conditions that you want more knowledge about, or if you have alignment issues and might need a pregnancy chiropractor, the more knowledge you have beforehand the better equipped you’ll be to articulate these to your doctor.
CHANGE YOUR CHORES (AVOID HARSH OR TOXIC CLEANERS, HEAVY LIFTING)
We all want to believe that we can do it all, all of the time but this just isn’t true and during your pregnancy, you don’t want to be testing your limits. Rather, know where your limits are and reschedule your chores and daily tasks to reflect those limits. Ask for help when you need it and pay attention to what’s happening with your body. Any sharp or jabbing pains need to be seen as quickly as possible, just in case.
Your body is going to undergo massive changes during your pregnancy, but women are divinely equipped to interpret these signals, so learn how to instinctively respond to these signs and changes, and of course, mom knows best – so some good advice from other moms as well as your own can yield some great results.
