Yep I finally got around to making my post on how we make our very own toothpaste. It is definitely easy, super fun and actually doesn’t taste all that bad. I guess you’ll have to get used of the taste if this is your first time using/trying homemade toothpaste.
INGREDIENTS:
3 Tablespoons Coconut Oil – I used Tropical Traditions Organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil
3 Tablespoons Baking Soda – Bought at Aldi’s
1 Package Of Stevia (Optional) – Bought at Aldi’s
20-25 Drops Essential Oil (Grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Spearmint, Tangerine Or Wintergreen) (Optional) – I used Peppermint Essential Oil that I bought from Keys Of Paradise
2 Teaspoon Vegetable Glycerin (Optional) – I didn’t use any glycerin because I don’t have any on hand. But you can find it on Amazon.com or any health/whole foods store.
DIRECTIONS:
Blend The Coconut Oil And Baking Soda With A Fork In A Bowl.
Add The Essential Oil*, Stevia And Vegetable Glycerin.
Stir Until It Reaches Your Desired Consistency. Transfer To A Small Glass Jar Or Storage Container With A Tight-Fitting Lid.
If you find that your toothpaste is a bit on the runny side put it in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes. This will allow the coconut oil to solidify a bit. I actually had to do this and it came out PERFECT!!! And if you find that it’s too hard, just run it under hot watch. Make sure that the jar is tightly closed before running it under hot water.
*Add 5 Drops Of Essential Oil At A Time, Tasting As You Go Until Your Desired Taste.
