If you are someone that is working from home more and more, or is at home a lot of the time with children, for example, then your workouts are likely to be at home. There is nothing wrong with that, as done well, home workouts can be just as good for you and as effective as going to the gym. When you work out at home, there are advantages as it is cheaper; you don’t need a gym membership. You can also do it at any time that you like, and don’t need to arrange childcare, for example. You can save time too, as you won’t need to travel to the gym and back. So if you’re not working out at home, some of the other excuses might be that you don’t have any equipment to get started.
Working out at home doesn’t need a lot of equipment, and you can get a good workout from body weight exercises. But to boost your fitness and achieve your goals, there are a few things that you need. One of them is space. You don’t need a lot, but enough to lunch back and forth, for example, and to lie on the floor and do crunches. If you’re wondering what kinds of equipment you will need, then here are some ideas of pieces of kit that will help.
Activewear
One of the number one things is activewear. Although you could technically workout at home in our pajamas, it is going to be much more productive to wear the right gear, from an activewear store like Curves N Combatboots. Having a sports bra helps a lot, am I right, ladies? Not to mention leggings that won’t fall down or ride down when you’re bending or squatting. Having a good pair of training shoes makes a difference too.
Yoga or aerobics mat
Having a mat is an essential part of equipment. If you workout without a mat, it can lead to injury particularly with your back when doing ab work. There are many styles to choose from, but the good news is that they are light and they fold up really small, so can be easily stored away when they are not being used.
Resistance bands
Resistance bands are a must for home workouts, as they provide resistance, but they don’t need a huge range of weights. Mini resistance bands are small and portable, and they are also very effective. You can buy them in different strengths, so that they do cater to all abilities. They can be used for resistance training, yoga, stretching, and more.
Adjustable dumbbells
In a gym, there will be a huge range of weights to choose from. But you don’t need that when you workout from home, unless you want to, of course. But having some weights can be great for toning up and building your strength. Adjustable dumbbells mean that you can get up to quite a heavy weight, but don’t need a huge range of dumbbells that take up a lot of space.
