How to Stay Calm When Stressed Out at Your Desk

It’s easy to get stressed out when you’re working hard and feeling overwhelmed by your work. And when you’re meant to be at work, you can’t always just run away and avoid the situation. So finding ways to deal with your stress while still at your desk is important. There are lots of techniques you can make sure of, and you can find out more about them below.

Halt Multitasking

It’s important to do what you can to avoid overworking yourself and trying to juggle lots of tasks at the same time. When you want to get the most out of the way you’re working and you want to work efficiently, multitasking is something that it makes sense to avoid. Trying to do multiple things at the same time just means that you end up wasting more energy and you don’t actually get more done.

Talk it Out

Talking things through with colleagues and letting some of your frustrations out is very important when you’re dealing with stress. Simply having someone nearby who’s willing to listen and who’s not going to judge you for talking though the things that are causing you stress can make a big difference. Bottling it up and dealing with it alone is not the way to go.

Practice Some Breathing Exercises

Practicing your breathing exercises and techniques can help a lot too. If this is something that you’ve never really done before, you should give them a try and see if you can benefit from them. Simply stepping back and controlling your breathing can be one of the things that helps you feel back in control of a situation when it starts to get away from you and you begin to feel overwhelmed.

Use a Therapy Massager

Using a therapy massager is something that can make a big difference when you’re stressed out and feeling tense. The cupping therapy massager can relieve that tension and help you to feel a lot looser and more flexible. Be sure to give it a try and keep one near your desk at all times if you find that it’s something that helps you relax a little.

Get Up and Take a Walk

Although we talked about needing to stay tied to your office desk, sometimes you just have to get up and have a break. Walking away for 10 minutes and then coming back refreshed really can make a world of difference sometimes and it’s something that certainly shouldn’t be overlooked if you’re struggling with stress in the office. Walking away and giving yourself a break is often the best thing you can do.

If you find yourself getting stressed out a lot while you’re at work, you should be sure to talk about your workload with your boss. Making a few changes might mean that you get stressed out a little less often and you find the whole situation much easier to manage. And be sure to make the most of the healthy coping mechanisms discussed above.
