One Day to Complete Relaxation

From time to time, we might get lucky enough to have an entire day or at least much of a day to ourselves.

Or, maybe it isn’t to ourselves, but there is less to do that usually.

Grab it by both hands because this is your day! This is your single day to do some little rituals to relax, unwind, and center yourself a little bit.

You might not want to use everything on the list, but we are going to go through all of the senses, indulge a little, and by the end of these 24 hours, you should feel refreshed and pampered. .

Get up

Ah, but the trick is not to get up late or at your usual time. It is time to get up bright and early—even earlier than you usually would.

You want to make the most of today, and a morning routine can put the rest of your day on the right path.

Waking up early can feel like more of a punishment than a step on the path of relaxation.

However, let’s just do it anyway.

Aim for 5 am, or 6 am. (if you usually get up at 6 am, then maybe you do want the sleep-in).

The night before your big day of self-love, make sure you have got yourself a breakfast ready, some clean loungewear, and even a playlist to help you get your morning vibes immaculate.

Pen and Paper

Resist the temptation to grab your phone and lose time mindlessly scrolling. Instead, grab a pen and paper and make a list of all the great stuff you’ve done.

Most people get a little shy here. “I haven’t done anything great”. Well, this is why celebrating the little things is one of the biggest things you can do for yourself.

Managed to cook great meals all week? Write it down. Usually, forget to pay bills on time, but lately, have managed? Write it down. Scored a bit new client at work? WRITE IT DOWN.

Yep. You are celebrating all the big and smalls here.

Big yourself up, pat yourself on the back, write down those achievements and bask in some glory.

Once you have successfully celebrated yourself, it’s time to give yourself things to do.

Write a to-do list of things that you want to achieve either today, this week, or this month.

Most people respond well to having goals to meet.

You could always choose to do it the billionaire way:

  • 3 work-related things you want to achieve
  • 3 personal things you want to achieve
  • Consider how you want to feel through the day and write that down too.

(this is from the billionaire morning routine)

This will just help you maximize your time; even relaxation can do with a bit of guidance.

Journal

Using a snippet of time, you can journal. It might be writing down some thoughts, a brain dump, or releasing some negativity that you are holding on to.

Use 15 minutes of your day to put pen to paper and unleash some thoughts.

While you are writing everything down, here is a nice place to have a cup of tea.

Walk

You could walk, cycle, run, jog or simply stand outside for a few minutes. You need to get some of the vitamin D, feel the wind on your face, and take some deep breathes.

For no other reason than it is good for you, and nice to do it without the goal of getting groceries or something else.

Cook

For parents or those who take care of others, cooking is a daily chore. Yet, you can put a twist on it.

Find a recipe that you haven’t tried before, something that looks delicious, and you can’t wait to try. Use the grocery list as a reason to walk to the grocery store.

While you’re there, if you have the budget to do so, get yourself a bunch of flowers.

Take your time to cook the recipe, and really enjoy each step.

Hair mask

If your hair is used to a wash and go, it might need a little extra attention. If you don’t have hair oils or masks available, then you can use some of these nifty hair mask tips:

Warm a towel, then add a slick of olive oil to the dry tips of your hair (avoid the root), wrap your hair in the warm towel and let it soak up.

You can do the same steps with coconut oil.

Leave it on for 15 minutes. Time this step to be just before a bath or a shower.

Bath or Shower

Not everyone has a bath or has time to take a bath. But you can still take a shower and feel luxurious.

Use big circular motions to clean and scrub your body from top to bottom. This will help boost your blood circulation and your mood.

Exfoliate and buff away all of that dead skin. If you don’t have a store-bought exfoliate, then you can make one at home.

It is super simple. You can use salt or sugar, so long as it is grainy, some olive oil or coconut oil, and a little bit of honey.

Not only does it smell nice, but it is very effective.

Give yourself a 5-10 minute scalp massage. This will encourage any product build-up to dislodge and help with promoting hair growth.

Read

Reading gives us access to new ideas and is one of the best ways to spend time. However, not everyone wants to read a book.

So where can you go to read some interesting stuff?

  • Medium – has a wide range of pieces, from technical articles to thought pieces.
  • Thought Catalog – a big mish-mash of articles, but easy to find something to read for a while
  • Begin with Yes – some laws of attraction articles; their blog has a range of articles.
  • HubPages – a huge range of submitted articles and conversation

Or go to your favorite blogs and read the latest posts.

Meditation

You might want to fit this one in first thing in the morning. Meditation is a powerful way to learn how to relax and clear negative thoughts away from your mind.

Almost every ‘have your best day ever.’ or ‘millionaire/billionaire morning routine’ will have meditation somewhere.

Meditation is one of the vital things that we can do to lower our stress levels and be more aware of how our negative thoughts are impacting us.

A Qveen Herby says, ‘meditate on edibles’, although you do need to be sure of the marijuana laws in your area!

Supplements

Like most things that are good for us, supplements are something that we need to work into our daily lives.

It isn’t always easy, though.

It might be time to set yourself a daily reminder on your phone to make sure that you take your supplements. Here are a few supplements that you should be considering each day:

  • Pre and probiotics
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin B12
  • Magnesium

You can also take a high-quality multivitamin that has much of what you need every day.

It is essential that your vitamin is a supporting act in a healthy and balanced diet so that you can ensure you are getting everything you need.

Jumpstart

If you have work you can do to relieve some of the pressure you might get in an average week, then get ahead on your work.

This is one of the best things you can do to get some complete relaxation. There is nothing quite as great as knowing you have less to do, and you have tackled some of the biggest issues you will face in the week ahead.

If you can’t prep work in advance, then prep other things like your outfits, the kid’s lunches, or meals for the week.

Keep that relaxation going by giving yourself time each week.
